Why Star Trek Sucks

Star Trek, especially the newest incarnations, is void of all of the things that make for entertaining, adult-minded science fiction. The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, have a sort of juvenile mindset to them. Instead of having people do exactly what they normally would do as humans, the Trek Universe has people behaving as though there are strict rules about everything that prevent a person from even considering self-preservation or self-indulgence as a primary motivator.

Why Charles Stross Hates Star Trek

“British sci-fi author Charles Stross has confessed that he has long hated the Star Trek franchise for its relegation of technology as irrelevant to plot and character development — and the same goes for similar shows such as Babylon Five. The problem, according to Stross, is that as Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore has described in a recent speech, the writers of Star Trek would simply ‘insert’ technology or science into the script whenever needed, without any real regard to its significance; ‘then they’d have consultants fill in the appropriate words (aka technobabble) later.’”

A list of mistakes in Star Trek (2009)

Image via Wikipedia

Updated recently Continuity: When Kirk is sneaking about on the Romulan ship, just before he confronts Nero, we see a shot of him walking down a dark corridor, carrying what is very clearly a Romulan pistol (quite long and thin), the very one in fact that he steals from the Romulan first officer, just after he says ‘I got your gun!” The trouble is that this scene is shown BEFORE Kirk steals the gun. Oviously an editing mixup as, when the shot changes, he suddenly has his standard Federation Phaser in his hand when he confronts Nero.
Star Trek movie mistakes, goofs and bloopers

There are 12 more listed over on the site linked to above, I particularly like the ‘mistake’ of lense flares.
